Warsaw has joined the Start Alliance, an international business network. Thanks to the partnership, innovative companies from the capital city will have the opportunity of getting to know foreign markets more easily, obtaining assistance in their plans of foreign expansion and raising capital. In exchange, foreign companies from the member cities will obtain a comprehensive business service. The project is implemented by three institutions from the PFR Group - the Polish Development Fund (PFR), the Polish Investment and Trade Agency (PAiH) and the Polish Agency for Enterprise Development (PARP). PFR Life Science, a special purpose vehicle of the Polish Development Fund, carried out another investment in the biotechnology sector by participating in a private issue of the shares of Mabion S.A., a Polish company specialising in the technology of biosimilar medicines. In the issue, the company acquired funding in the amount of PLN 174.8 million, which constitutes 16% of its share capital. PFR Life Science acquired new company shares of the value of PLN 38.3 million. The remaining shareholders in the issue were investors from the United States and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development.

The Polish Development Fund Group (the PFR Group), through a special purpose vehicle PFR Life Science, carried out the first investment in the biotechnology sector, participating in the secondary public issue of shares of Selvita S.A., one of the largest innovative biotech companies in Europe. The PFR was one of the largest investors, acquiring shares for almost PLN 40 million. Selvita S.A. acquired a total of PLN 134 million for the implementation of the development strategy for 2017-2021 presented to the investors.

On January 11, 2018, PFR Fundusz Inwestycji Samorządowych, whose mission is to provide Capital for the Development of Local Governments, signed investment agreements. The first agreement was concluded with the municipalities of Nowy Sącz, Nawojowa, Stary Sącz, Kamionka Wielka, and Korzenna, by means of which the Polish Development Fund will invest in the Sądeckie Wodociągi company. The second investment also covers the extension of the water and sewage infrastructure in Limanowa, where the fund will become a shareholder of the Department of Public Utilities and Housing. The total value of both investments amounts to PLN 50 million.
